Puppy Health Guarantee

Puppies are guaranteed within one year of the pup's birth to be free of any genetic condition that would make the puppy unable to function as a pet. Elk Mountain Newfoundlands will replace the puppy with a puppy of same sex and color or return 50% of the price of the puppy if the buyer desires to keep the pup. These genetic conditions include, but are not limited to, life-threatening heart malformations, retinal atrophy, thyroid and liver shunts, and crippling hip or elbow dysplasia.

Buyer must supply contact information to the veterinarian that diagnosed such conditions and breeder has the right to get a second veterinarian's opinion. Breeder must be provided with the veterinary record, as well as, documentation of diet, medications and environment provided the dog.

Buyer must provide proper veterinarian attention and all vaccines. Your puppy will come with all required vaccinations, as well as, a Bordetella vaccination if older than 9 weeks of age.

Buyer must provide the puppy with an appropriate environment, regular exercise (but not over-exercise), and adequate nutrition. Premium foods must be provided throughout the life of the dog. Low-grade food is unacceptable and can actually cause damage to a fast-growing dog such as the Newfoundland and thus void this guarantee. Improper diet will actually cost you more in vet bills, decreased life expectancy, and poor quality of life for your pup. A general rule of thumb is food should contain no more the 26% protein and no more than 16% fat.
